A short trek in the Himalayas

The Annapurna Region in central Nepal is the most geographically and culturally diverse region for trekking. The area boasts of a variety of diverse cultures, tribes and castes as the Brahmins, Chettris, Newars, Gurungs, Magars, Manangis and the Tibetans. This area has sub-tropical lowlands, valleys, and forests of bamboo, oak and rhododendron, alpine meadows, windswept desert plateaus and the towering Annapurna Mountains.

This area has the world's deepest river gorge, Kali Ghandaki, lying some 6,900m / 22,563 ft., below some of the world's largest and most beautiful mountains as the Annapurna I (world's 8th highest) & Fishtail (one of the most beautiful). 440 species of birds and animals like the marten, deer, langur and the elusive snow leopard live here.

Itinerary

Day 01: Arrive Kathmandu. Overnight at hotel.
Day 02: Sightseeing in Kathmandu. Overnight at hotel.
Day 03: Fly to Pokhara & drive to Nayapool and trek to Tirkhedhunga (1,577m). Trek duration: 2½ - 3 hrs. Overnight at lodge.
Day 04: Ghorepani (2,724m). Trek duration: 5½ - 6 hrs. Overnight at lodge.
Day 05: Trek to Pun Hill to view the sunrise and later trek to Ghandrung (1,950m). Trek duration: 6½ to 7 hrs. Overnight at lodge.
Day 06: Ghandrung to Nayapool and drive to Pokhara. Trek duration: 2½ - 3 hrs. Drive: 1½ hrs. Overnight at a hotel in Pokhara.
Day 07: Fly to Kathmandu. Flight duration: 30 minutes. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 08: Sightseeing in Kathmandu. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 09: Final departure.
